Experts’ Meeting Regarding the Medical Treatment Risk Fund

Ronalds Rozkalns participated in the meeting of experts regarding the evaluation of the amount of harm caused to a patient within the scope of Medical Treatment Risk Fund. The meeting was arranged by the Latvian Medical Association together with the Health Inspectorate of Latvia.

According to the Law On the Rights of Patients a patient has the right to compensation from  Medical Treatment Risk Fund for any harm caused to his or her life or health, as well as for any non-material damage which has been caused by the medical practitioner working in the medical treatment institution during medical treatment through his or her acts or failure to act.

The compensation from  Medical Treatment Risk Fund shall be paid out from 1 May 2014 for the harm caused to a patient after 25 October 2013.
